Indian N-Butyl Acetate Market Turns Bullish on Firm Demand, Tightening Supplies

  • The price hike is primarily attributed to increased procurement activity from the paints and coatings industry, as seasonal demand picks up. Additionally, rising feedstock N-Butanol prices are expected to keep N-Butyl Acetate prices elevated in the near term.
  • On a weekly basis, N-Butyl Acetate prices have increased by ₹1.5/kg, reflecting a firm market sentiment.

Supply & Demand

  • Demand for N-Butyl Acetate remained stable earlier in January 2025, supported by robust production activity in the automotive coatings and inks sectors. Manufacturers have begun stockpiling inventories as seasonal demand for paints and coatings resumes.
  • This week, the Asian benchmark FOB China prices for N-Butyl Acetate recorded an increase of 25 Yuan, settling at 6,900 Yuan/MT, equivalent to $1,035/MT FOB China.
  • In the Indian market, demand is expected to gain momentum and remain strong until June 2025, primarily driven by seasonal consumption from the paints and coatings industry.
  • India's monthly consumption of N-Butyl Acetate is estimated at approximately 6 kt, with the paints and coatings sector being the dominant consumer. Additional demand stems from industries such as bulk drugs, personal care, fragrances, and leather.
