  • Tata Steel has announced to significantly expand its Kalinganagar plant in Odisha, taking its capacity from 3 million tons per annum (MTPA) to 8 MTPA shortly at an investment of Rs 27,000 crore. This phase-two expansion will position the state as the largest investment destination for Tata Steel. “Even as the company is on the verge of commissioning its expanded capacity in Kalinganagar (to 8 MTPA), Tata Steel believes that the plant has a further scope to double this to 16 MTPA in the coming years, which will further strengthen Odisha’s role in Tata Steel’s growth journey,” the company said in a statement.

Expert Opinion

  • As the monsoon season draws to a close, market demand will rise over the next few months. Because of the current stagnant demand, prices are steady. Distributors anticipate increased prices from primary mills in the upcoming week. It'll become clear after four or five days.
